A passion for …
The eternal question: Who am I? What is my purpose?
A wife for 32 years. A mother of three now-adult children. A physician- retired. a chef; weaver; seamstress; confidant; daughter; sister; friend; Nia Technique somatic coach.
A breast cancer survivor.
Today, in January 2022, I am through all the “active” treatments — the most arduous life journey I have had the honor to endure. I have had many transitions in my life, all of which have led me to this very moment. A time of metamorphosis, a time of rebirth into a new body and life.
I am still unsure of what I propose to do now, yet I know I am passionate about helping others heal in some way. I believe I can meld my practice of Nia, all I am learning about the self-healing body from my exposure to the Nia Trainer path, and from my own experience of breast cancer into sharing with my fellow breast cancer survivors.
Stay tuned.

I first found Nia when I had just learned I would no longer be able to take care of patients as I had before. I had developed a shoulder condition that limited my range of motion and strength and caused great pain. I could no longer keep patients and myself safe at the same time.
I wandered into a local gym, looking for ways to distract myself, and hopefully gain some strength. There was a group class happening at that moment. I joined in, thinking, “well, you only live once.” It was an amazing experience. The music was different and engaging, the movement was exhilarating and conditioning. When the class was over, I wanted more.
I received the Nia White Belt training in 2012, and taught my first class the next day. Never looking back, I have taken the Green, Blue and Brown, Black, 1st and 2nd degree Black Belt , Moving to Heal, Move It! Floor Play and Nia 5 Stages of Healing trainings!I am currently on Faculty as a 3rd generation White Belt trainer in training.
Nia is more than a workout for the body; I have found a way of life.
