Helene swept through

Hurricane Helene was a swiftly moving devastating storm. She traversed Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and more. The North Carolina mountains are forever changed. There are whole towns gone, just swept away. Lake Lure became a repository for debris- timber from flattened houses, whole decks….

Water and sewer service to whole communities will take years to repair, let alone peoples homes. I imagine the shock is just beginning to set in.

My desire is to help, of course. Usually direct donations of items are not wanted, as often there is no real way to distribute. This time however, a wonderful acqaintance has a house there and was able to go. The local high school is a shelter and needs clothes, personal items, etc… So my husband and I put together two big boxes of men’s and women’s clothes. I’ll get them to my friend, and off they will go.

I feel so lucky and grateful to be in a position to help.

Till next time.
